GREEN LANTERNS LIGHT!
The Trailers
Director: Seth Gordon
Writers: Michael Markowitz (screenplay), John Francis Daley (screenplay), and 2 more credits »
Stars: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis
The Plot: Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.
My Take:Another of those supposed black comedies where things go horribly wrong for the protagonists and they have to do away with the objects fo their unhappiness. If it doesn't go the way of sophomoric toilet humor it might even be funny but I am not keeping my hopes up. Probably not going to see this one in the theater or on DVD.

Immortals
Director: Tarsem Singh
Writers: Charley Parlapanides, Vlas Parlapanides
Stars: Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and John Hurt
Cowboys & Aliens
Director: Jon Favreau
Writers: Roberto Orci (screenplay), Alex Kurtzman (screenplay), and 7 more credits »
Stars: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde
Director: Tarsem Singh
Writers: Charley Parlapanides, Vlas Parlapanides
Stars: Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and John Hurt
The Plot: Greek warrior Theseus battles against imprisoned titans.
My Take: An expensive knockoff of 300 and Clash of the Titans (the 2010 one not the original). THe graphics and images look amazing but will it have the story to back them up. The over the top fight scenes may be a little too much for me in the end but if there is nothing else clashing with it I might see it in theaters maybe a week or so after opening. Otherwise it might get regulated to a DVD watchlist.

Cowboys & Aliens
Director: Jon Favreau
Writers: Roberto Orci (screenplay), Alex Kurtzman (screenplay), and 7 more credits »
Stars: Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford and Olivia Wilde
The Plot: A spaceship arrives in Arizona, 1873, to take over the Earth, starting with the Wild West region. A posse of cowboys are all that stand in their way.
My Take: Another graphic novel turned into a feature film, but this one looks awesome. What more could you ask for Aliens, Cowboys, Harrison Ford, yes I said Harrison Ford. Of course we can't forget Daniel Craig either. The fact that its an alien invasion set in the wild west is just to cool to pass up. I'll probably be seeing this one in the theaters.
Releases July 29th, 2011.
Moneyball
Director: Bennett Miller
Writers: Steven Zaillian (screenplay), Aaron Sorkin (screenplay), and 2 more credits »
Stars: Brad Pitt, Robin Wright and Jonah Hill
The Plot: The story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players.
My Take: A feel-good movie with Brad Pitt as a groundbreaking individual. As it is a docudrama about how one man change baseball I'm pretty sure I won't be going to the theaters to see it. I am also pretty sure I won't be watching it on DVD either. Might possibly watch it on cable if there is nothing else on a few years down the road. If your into historical sports movies, than this one might be for you.
Releases September 23rd, 2011
Fight Night
Director: Craig Gillespie
Writers: Marti Noxon (screenplay), Tom Holland (story), and 1 more credit »
Stars: Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and David Tennant
The Plot: A teenager suspects that his new neighbor is a vampire.
My Take: A remake of the 1985 cult classic. Not sure based on the trailer if it will be worth it but seeing as vampires are becoming way more popular than they have a right to be the movie to put them back in their place. I might see this one in theaters if future trailers reveal a little more of the story and what the movie will be about. Worse comes to worse it will be a DVD rental and we will go from there.
Releases August 19th, 2011
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Director: David Yates
Writers: Steve Kloves (screenplay), J.K. Rowling (novel)
Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint
The Plot: The final chapter begins as Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord's three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality. But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again.
My Take: A must see for all the Harry Potter fans and if your not one you might want to avoid the theater on opening weekend.

The Feature FilmGREEN LANTERN
Director: Martin Campbell
Writers: Greg Berlanti (screenplay), Michael Green (screenplay), and 5 more credits »
Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively and Peter Sarsgaard
The Plot: A test pilot is granted a mystical green ring that bestows him with otherworldly powers, as well as membership into an intergalactic squadron tasked with keeping peace within the universe.
My Take: I will admit that I had my doubts going into this movie about whether or not it would measure up to the hype as well as the previous DC Comics movies. I needn't have worried. It was an entertaining piece of film even with all the continuity errors and flaws but that is to be expected when you change mediums. For all its faults and quirks it is still and worth seeing on the big screen and especially not in 3D. Go see it and eat lots of popcorn (or whatever your fav snack is) and don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
